NEW YORK, March 12, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Scholastic News® Kid Reporter Topanga Sena, 11, of Orlando, Florida sat down for an exclusive interview with First Lady Michelle Obama when she was in Orlando, Florida, wrapping up her Let's Move! second anniversary tour.



First Lady Michele Obama reveals to the Scholastic News Kids Press Corps, if she could make one unhealthy food healthy, which one she would choose. This excerpt is part of an exclusive interview conducted by 11-year-old Scholastic News Kid Reporter Topanga Sena of Orlando, Florida, who asks the First Lady about her campaign against childhood obesity, family fitness and health, and what it's like being the First Mom.

Sena, who was one of two Scholastic News Kid Reporters to interview President Barack Obama last summer, asked the First Lady about the success of her Let's Move! Campaign, the demands of being the "First Mom" and the question that many have considered- if there was one unhealthy food you could make healthy, what would it be?

"French fries. I love French Fries. I wish I could eat French fries every single day," said First Lady Michelle Obama. She went on to explain the importance of exercise and a balanced diet. "I tell my kids, if you're eating right at home, then when you go out you can have fun. If you're getting your exercise, you don't have to worry about it. So I don't believe in absolute no's to anything because that doesn't make life fun."

During the February interview the First Lady also spoke about the progress she has seen in efforts to keep kids healthy and active in the United States, including legislation passed by Congress to provide healthier meals in schools and participation from restaurants and grocery stores that are providing healthier options. Children's National Posts Favorite Story on Its Site

WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- First Lady Michelle Obama read the holiday classic 'Twas the Night before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore, during her holiday visit to Children's National Medical Center. First Lady Michele Obama, with daughters Malia and Sasha, along with dog Bo, visited patients and staff at Children's National Medical Center on Tuesday, December 22.


As part of her visit on Tuesday, Mrs. Obama and her daughters read stories to children staying at the hospital who were brought down to the hospital atrium for the annual event.


"It's been a longstanding tradition for First Ladies to visit the nation's children's hospital. We are pleased that Mrs. Obama and her daughters brought such joy to our patients and staff," said Jacqueline D. Bowens, Executive Vice President and Chief Government and External Affairs Officer at Children's National.


The tradition of First Ladies visiting Children's National goes back to First Lady Bess Truman. Children's National Medical Center is located less than four miles from the White House.
